Wanaka

Wanaka is located on the South West of the South Island; this small yet versatile town lies deep within towering Alpine mountains and glacial Lakes. If you are looking to traverse this awe-inspiring area the completed Hawea to Albert Town River Track, the Millennium Track to Glendhu Bay and the Albert Town to Luggate Track which follows on along the river will leave you breathless and revitalised.

You will find Lake Wanaka at the heart of the stunning Southern Lakes; and within these Lakes lay Ruby Island, Mou Waho Island with its own lake, and its own islands. The islands have been extensively planted with native and local flora. Mt Aspiring National Park World Heritage Area is remote, tranquil, scenic, loved by climbers and captured by photographers for its visual splendour the park’s gateway begins at the shores of Lake Wanaka.
