The slightly longer one is more scenic and on this route you pass through the historic Shotover Bridge (enjoy a boat ride here) and Arthur’s Point. On the other hand the shorter route is quite conventional. On this route you will drive past Lake Hayes and the airport.

Arrowtown is a fascinating attraction of New Zealand stepped in rich history. It was a gold mining town with rich history. Ideally located on the banks of the Arrow River, this town boasts of several wonderful attractions such as Lakes District Museum, Chinese miners’ settlement, welcoming cafes, horse trekking and gold panning.
