Explore Auckland Viaduct

Situated between Auckland’s vibrant city centre and the Waitematā Harbour, Auckland Viaduct is a buzzing hub of over 30 superb bars and restaurants in a stunning waterfront location.

Whether you’re after a night out on the town, a bottomless brunch with friends, or an afternoon watching the world sail by with a delicious cup of coffee, a trip to the Auckland viaduct is a must-do on any trip to The City of Sails.

Places to eat

With over 30 eateries to choose from in this chic and modern locale, there is no shortage of choice, and no better place to start your weekend away.

If you’re after a local weekend favourite, why not start with a classic bottomless brunch at the mouth-wateringly good South Pacific eatery, The Lula Inn. Made from fresh, local food with a tropical charm, their bottomless brunches are to die for - make sure you book a table in advance though!

If you’re strolling along the viaduct and are feeling peckish for some lunch à la takeaway, Celia’s Pies is a new take of the classic kiwi pie, and is well worth a try. Combining exotic ingredients like organic Pigeon Bay lamb, organic chicken, and Hawke's Bay Merlot, these are the humble pie’s superior older sibling - and they are delicious.

If you’re wanting to dine in, Hello Beasty has a cult-like following, and it truly lives up to its name. A delicious fusion restaurant that combines the exotic flavours of Japan, Korea, and China, this sharing menu provides a full-blown experience - perfect for lunch, dinner, or anything in between.

With so many choices to choose from, some of our other top picks are Arbung Thai Street Food, Giraffe, Burger Boy, and Lawn Cafe + Bar.

Places to drink

The Viaduct has a thriving nightlight, with some of the best bars in the city for a truly special cocktail hour.

The Parasol & Swing Company has delicious seasonal cocktails (as well as a delicious menu if you get peckish), and are all about using fresh, bespoke ingredients with a flair.

Saint Alice is one bar and eatery where you’ll want to go purely for the views alone. With a blend of 180-degree sea views, beer, wine and cocktails, live entertainment, and a mouthwatering locally inspired menu, this chic bar is high on our must-visit list.

Dr Rudi’s is another rooftop bar with stunning views, delicious drinks, and a pumping live entertainment scene. Or, if you’re after a bit of post-cocktail fun, try out their ten-pin bowling lane.
